Matt Salyers worked in his family masonry business growing up, and was always hands-on with his work. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2004 with a Marketing degree, spent a few years in the corporate marketing world, and realized that he missed the creativity and innovation that came with the property business. In early 2008, he and business partner, Barry Melcher, founded Salcher Properties, a company which owns several rental properties, handles residential and commercial remodeling, tenant finishes, rehabbing, and buying/selling houses.
Salyers’ biggest challenges, he says, come in the form of daily tactical issues – scheduling, inspections, codes, and the like. This may be why his main goal for 2014 is to eliminate renting, and get more into the remodeling side of things. His biggest strength, he says in a laid back tone, is that he is pretty easy to get along with, and being personable in this business will get you a long way. Success, he says, is due to the clientele. “We have a pretty good reputation,” he says, “for being innovative. Both Barry and I have design aspects in both of our backgrounds, and we strive to keep our customers happy.”
When he’s not at the office, Matt can be found spending time at home with his family, including their newest addition, baby Isla.
