American Mortgage: Forging Ahead
In an economic environment that has been in a word “unpredictable” over the last 6-7 years, there are not many industries that have been affected more than the lending industry. American Mortgage Service Co. was established in 1975 by Emil and Vera Bergdoldt and from the start, their mission was to help individuals purchase and re-finance their homes. Today, Ed Wolterman, Chairman, and Bill Case, President and CEO, keep those simple goals at the forefront of their business. Overcoming the challenges of compliance and new regulations and always being aware of industry conditions, American Mortgage is now an Emerging 30 honoree with 230 employees across 7 states. Based in Cincinnati, OH, they have their strongest presence in Northern Kentucky and have been servicing the community for 40 years.
When asked, Bill Case gave this advice to business owners. “Be prepared to make changes on the fly, listen to input from your team, be willing to learn, and keep a positive attitude.” He also said he learned from reading about individuals like Warren Buffett and admires his “simple, smart outlook on life”.
Bill said this about the benefits of being an Emerging 30 honoree, “It is nice to receive congratulatory calls from those you have helped in the past. The recognition is great! Feels good to know you are making a difference.”
